How PRP hair restoration works

A small blood sample is taken and processed in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma. The prepared PRP is then placed into selected areas of the scalp using a series of small injections. The treatment is intended to support the environment around existing hair follicles.

Some clients consider PRP for a widening parting, early thinning at the crown or temples, or a general reduction in density. Hair growth is naturally slow, so any change is assessed over time rather than immediately. Suitability depends on the cause and stage of thinning, and PRP cannot recreate hair follicles that are no longer active.

Suitability, results and aftercare

Consultation and suitability

Hair thinning can have many causes. Your consultation covers the pattern of thinning, scalp condition, treatment area, medical history, current medicines and expectations. If hair loss is sudden, severe, patchy, associated with scalp symptoms or potentially connected to an underlying health condition, you may be advised to seek appropriate medical assessment first. Treatment may be unsuitable or postponed where appropriate.

Results and treatment planning

PRP is generally considered as a course rather than an instant solution. The number and spacing of sessions depend on individual assessment and response. No fixed density, rate of regrowth or duration can be promised. PRP may be more appropriate where follicles are still active and thinning is addressed at an earlier stage.

Downtime, risks and aftercare

Temporary scalp tenderness, redness, swelling, minor bleeding, bruising or sensitivity may occur. Follow the individual aftercare provided by the clinic. You may be advised briefly to avoid washing the hair, strenuous exercise, excessive heat or certain hair products. Contact the clinic if you experience an unexpected reaction, worsening discomfort or have concerns.
